HeltiQ Emergency Blanket
HeltiQ Emergency Blanket, also called a thermal blanket, is made of aluminium foil and provides protection against hypothermia or overheating. The blanket has a gold and a silver side and can be used in two ways.
In case of hypothermia, wrap the silver side of the blanket around the casualty. This retains body heat and prevents further cooling.
In case of overheating, provide sufficient shade for the casualty by holding the gold side of the blanket above them. This reflects sunlight and prevents further overheating of the body.
An emergency blanket is an important first aid item and a fixed part of the HeltiQ Travel First Aid Kit and the HeltiQ Home First Aid Kit.

| Directions for use | The HeltiQ Emergency Blanket is a large aluminium foil blanket that can be used in cases of hypothermia or overheating. In case of hypothermia: Wrap the silver side around the casualty. Protect the casualty from the wind; Keep the casualty lying down as much as possible and remove wet clothing if possible; Wrap the casualty immediately in the emergency blanket, with the silver side facing inward, to prevent further cooling. Note! Always make sure there is a blanket or dry clothing between the emergency blanket and the body; Give the casualty something warm to drink, preferably no coffee, definitely no alcohol, and warm them up slowly. In case of overheating: Hold the gold side above the casualty. Move the casualty to a cool environment; Give them a drink (preferably a sports drink). Make sure the (sports) drink is not too cold; If the casualty is drowsy or has impaired consciousness, do not give them anything to drink. Call 112; Cool the casualty using the cold application of a HeltiQ Hot/Cold Compress; Do not wrap the casualty in the emergency blanket, but hold the gold side of the blanket above them. This reflects the sunlight and prevents further overheating of the body. |
